about
This was supposed to be a throw away song writing exercise that Jeff recorded vocals and guitar for simultaneously on a headphone mic. Sometimes a simple song can have a little bit of magic even in a raw recording, and we feel that way about this. A lead acoustic, Kelley's background vocals, and a harmonica were layered using the same headphone mic.
The vibe was almost right but the band was missing, so Moses, Chris, and Mike tracked the rest at Cadence studios over a weekend, and Moses did all the mixing and mastering.
We're super proud of this as a song we produced entirely on our own. We hope you enjoy.
lyrics
It all came together last night
and I knew I'd be gone by first light
a pain in my chest woke me up from the spell i was under
that you cast with delight
You were kind to me for a while
but I soon saw the lies that stretched out your smile
you pushed the pins in the rag doll that looked just like me
before I got wise
You said "Don't be a stranger" as I was walking away
My legs just won't move me that far I'm afraid
so don't call me or text me
I wouldn't know what to say anyway
It's too little too late
I was with you when you were on top
And when you slipped from your feet and hit your bedrock
neither one mattered to you you probably couldn't see
If I was there or not
You said "Don't be a stranger" as I was walking away
My legs just won't move me that far I'm afraid
so don't call me or text me
I wouldn't know what to say anyway
It's too little too late
I won't blame you for anything
I might even wish you well but not anywhere close to me
You said "Don't be a stranger" as I was walking away
My legs just won't move me that far I'm afraid
so don't call me or text me
I wouldn't know what to say anyway
It's too little too late
